MEATTRAY & The 2nd International Yarn Bombing Day.

I have long been a supporter and fan and photo-taker of guerrilla knitting (as long as it is on Gertrude St) and today I learnt that JUNE 9 is THE official international marker (thank you Instagram). However, I cannot find a single image from the last five or so years that can prove this! I sent some photos to the work blog thinking I had loads more & I don’t.

So instead : 1 Month Of Knitting Ideas & No Knitting.

This was the 6 month long visual diary that i kept & lost whilst at RMIT, condensed and rewritten it into a more transported-by-bus format (A6! I could have walked!) I wanted to knit body shields for Scout Niblett, ties for Paul Smith menswear and blankets displaying song lyrics constructed out of fishing line and cassette tape and cashmere. Instead, I failed the course twice and thought a third time might be an humiliation I could not take so I told my teacher my grandfather had died and that I would be moving to Queensland to “help my mother grieve”.

Venus will slowly cross the face of the sun at 5:37 this morning. She has been a recurring dream of mine for a year now. I dreamt of her moving away from the other planets to find a galaxy of her own. I like to look at her when I can with my killing machine kitten Petya. Petya is very restless tonight. I think she must feel that something is happening. Petya, my lover, my twin brother Zaek and I will stay up together having milkshakes in Venus’s humble honor. Zaek and I write this song very quickly thinking only in dreams because something real was happening that we couldn’t understand.
